A world where  doomsday has been avoided...

A realm of fantasy once ravaged by ancient gods, formidable dragons, perilous dungeons, sinister dark lords, and ominous prophecies of doom. This world has witnessed countless heroes, villains, and opportunistic adventurers navigating moral gray areas. But now, the ancient gods are weary, and the dragons have either been decapitated, slain, or are enjoying a well-deserved slumber. The once-treacherous dungeons are monster-free. They are so clean, in fact, that some are now bustling with coffee shops and microbreweries for the weary adventurer seeking refreshment.

Dark lords and their followers have either been vanquished or have embraced pacifism, inspired by a new meditation and stretching technique from the monks of the Yo-Ghi mountains. The ominous prophecies have mostly been resolved, with many chosen ones, dragonborn, and ring bearers successfully completing their quests—except for one unfortunate soul who failed due to a birthday hangover, leaving behind a city-sized crater as a reminder.

With most dangers now quelled, the adventurers of the realm, driven by boredom and a desire to showcase their prowess, have turned to Regulus. Here, in a grand arena, teams of three compete against one another for glory, riches, bloodlust, and the thrill of adventure.

Thoughts on the world of Regulus by the creator:

The world and lore of Regulus serves as a way to have all of these cool adventurers now basically without a purpose in life, literally without jobs, find a new purpose. Wat does an orc do in in realm of peace? Everyone knows orcs got to get into a fight once in a while for their mental health. The Arena becomes the next logical step in a world that is done with almost being destroyed but not done with cool fights and big moments. Besides centuries of near world ending events has left the world covered with piles of heavily enchanted loot, and it wouldn't be very durable to leave all of those ancient magical swords left to rust. Best to use them (Recycle people!).

The Art style of Regulus from clothing to armor is inspired by the late medieval period and early renaissance. This time period sees this shift to a more brighter world ending all the bad stuff of the 'darker' medieval period. Which allows for some cool comparisons.

I wanted Regulus to be a fantasy world full of color and magic that steers away from the dark fantasy theme often used for fantasy combat games. This shows in both art as in the gameplay: You cannot 'kill' a character in Regulus, instead a character is knocked-out and comes back the next combat round (which also greatly enhances the gameplay). In some games early character elimination can really work in the favor of the player who managed this first, which leads to sluggish gameplay. Regulus counters this by only removing a character without health for 1 combat round. The term knock-out also works better with the 'sport' aspect' of the game: the teams in Regulus are competing in arenas for their own glory and for the crowd's entertainment! (not to the death).

I cannot wait to finally get the official (non prototype) versions of Regulus in peoples hand. The game is beautifully designed in both art and gameplay and I'm confident the final versions will see a lot of happy backers!
