The game
Regulus High-Fantasy Arena-Sports is a boardgame skirmisher with a streamlined rule set. The game does not use any luck elements such as dice. Players control a team of three customizable characters and can fight in either 1v1 or 2v2. Regulus is a highly tactile game that is designed for both newcomers and experts in the genre. Strategy awaits… and the only meta, is your brain!

The World of Regulus
Regulus is the brightest observable star from our own planet; Earth, this is no coincidence for Regulus wants to bring fantasy characters from all corners of any universe to partake in the game of Regulus. Shapeshifting druids? sure. Murderous garden gnomes? Yes please.
Tipsy Pirates? Aye! and many more will follow. Regulus is a fantasy world where most perils and doom saying prophecies have been resolved. Now its inhabitants enjoy some well rested peace. The adventuring folk of the world, still craving a dangerous life turned their attention to Regulus High-Fantasy Arena-Sports, a brutal combat sport played in arenas across the world.
The Teams
For the first set of Regulus we wanted to give players a wide variety of fantasy characters and races, each with a very distinct playstyle and strategy.
The Adventuring Society
The Adventuring Society is an organization of dungeoneers whose roots reach the higher social circles of Regulus. The Society is extremely wealthy and famed across the realm. Their founding fathers and mothers have their names engraved in the history that shaped the very continent.
With not a lot of danger left in the World of Regulus they have turned their noses to the Arena. Being an organization whose late members are all well known fabled heroes of old they bring with them the very weapons and artifacts depicted and sung about from the legends of the old days…
The Orcs of Swampforest
The Orcs of Swampforest are one of the last Orc communities living in a traditional tribal system and even they are feeling the pull of the big city, with lots of the younguns leaving their ancestral home. With the great wars and the soul enslaving dark lords mostly the stuff of legends their warmongering years are over. That’s not to say these orcs live pacifistic lives nowadays. No sir.
They are still very fond of smashing and destroying any worthy adversary. The Arena is a perfect getaway for the more destructive and traditional amongst them. With big brutes, skilled hunters and voodoo using shamans, The Orcs of Swampforest still whisper fear in the ears of any opponent. They are strong, resilient and have lots of mobility which makes them an all round powerhouse.
Bearded Trouble
Bearded Trouble is a team of sturdy Dwarfs who don’t mind getting dirty. Being descendents of the first Delflord clan these Dwarfs are proud, dangerous and know how to defend themselves. With Dwarfs being amongst the very craftiest of all species on Regulus they enter the arena with strong armor, heavy hammers, harpooning crossbows and experimental boomboom powder.
What the short folk might lack in movement they more than make up for in power and strategy. Bearded Trouble is here and for those who don’t know: they are a bunch of grumpy Dwarfs with a fight first, talk later attitude.
The Children of Dracul
Although looking like a heavy metal group with a vitamin D shortage, they are Nightspawn. They live a prolonged life due to their vampiric nature and are technically undead. They now live semi peacefully amongst the inhabitants of Regulus. With semi peacefully meaning: A vampires gotta eat right?
Being weaker in lifeforce than ‘The living’ they can constantly get stronger by feeding on their opponents, enhancing their damage output and regaining health. Being children of the night they bring with them a whole array of unsportsmanlike weapons, gear and nasty equipment of the devilishly deranged.
Customizing your characters
Characters in Regulus can bring gear cards (although the game is fully playable without them). Gear cards give players the freedom to make custom load-outs for their characters, altering the way they play. Each character may bring up to three of them. You want to make a super tanky orc? Sure! Want to give your wizard excess to dark spells and magic? Go for it.
Each gear card comes with a once per game action and a passive ability. Each team comes with 12 gear cards which can include: weapons, armor, potions or spells. These cards can be used by any team, giving players the freedom to make powerful builds and find new and exciting ways to play!
The future of Regulus high-fantasy arena-sports...
We want to create a stable and engaging fanbase for Regulus and we have a couple of wild ideas to make sure of that. These Include:
– Launching new Teams and adding characters to exciting teams (each with their own gear cards).
– Having regular polls with the community about what kind of teams or characters should be added (and then add them!)
– Creating an arena making software for players to create their own arena’s and share these with the community.
– Regulus being able for purchase at your local board game store.
– Tournament play with cash prizes and a world tournament series with winners not only receiving money but inviting them to our HQ and creating their own characters in the game. Which will be available for purchase for all players
– A mobile version of the game with a free-to-play base game and where you can freely use the teams you already owned a physical copy off. Which you can add via a QR code included in your team or character box.
– Release more games in the Regulus universe
If you read these plans and are excited for the community this game could create. Join our mailing list for regular updates about our upcoming crowdfunding campaign and become a part of Regulus.
